Changing the oil in your V160 Trans
If transmission is out of car:
-
Remove the oil fill plug and then the drain plug
-
Drain the fluids into an oil drain pan.
-
Once all oil is out of the transmission you can now put the oil drain plug back on
-
You can now fill the trans with fluid if the engine and trans are together. Add the 1.8L of fluid into the trans before it goes back in/on the car.
-
Once all 1.8L of fluids are in the trans you can now put the oil fill plug back on
-
Make sure both plugs are torque'd to specs.
Note:
If transmission is not attached to engine you can simply roll the trans on its side and fill it that way .. no need for a hose.
If the transmission is still in the car:
-
Park the Supra on a level surface and engage the E-brake
-
Jack up the drivers side front tire and put a jack stand there for safety
-
Position an oil drain pan under the oil drain plug
-
Remove the oil fill plug and then the oil drain plug
-
Once all oil is out of the transmission you can now put the oil drain plug back on
-
With a clean 1/2" x 6 foot long hose, route it behind the engine and down the trans tunnel, finally inserting the hose into the fill plug hole
-
ALTERNATIVELY, you can use a shorter hose and go down through the shifter area inside the car
-
-
Do not let either hose sag under the oil fill plug hole
-
Begin pouring the trans fluid into the funnel slowly to avoid it overflowing out of the funnel (for the .8L of the second bottle, you can use a measuring cup to accurately measure)
-
Once all 1.8L of fluids are in the trans you can now put the oil fill plug back on
-
Make sure both plugs are torque'd to specs
-
Remove jack stand and lower the car
-
